The Storm

Charlie Vergara

The ocean moves
as if to say
I'm taking revenge
here, today

The wind id blowing
out of control
spinning papers
around a pole

The lightning strikes
on the horizon
creating sparks
with no compassion

The sky is dark
filled with clouds
the rain is falling
the thunder is loud

The rivers swell
filled with pride
changing landscapes
on every side

The streets are empty
yet, filled with sound
from the elements of nature
all around

The beaches are corroded
by the rising tide
what lays under water
is shoved aside

I stand by the boardwalk
a man reborn
accesing the damage
left by the storm.
